Rooster issue? Insight someone?

TSC Carrie’s the SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer or SafeGuard Equine/horse Paste. You have to look for those air ask a clerk. Dosage is 0.25 ml (1/4) ml per pound given orally for 5 consecutive days.

I had asked and they said they are currently out. He is not doing good today. Looking like we may lose him. Moved him into the garage with a heating lamp nearby.. gave him another dose of drench and cooking an egg for yolk to feed him. He had been eating and empty crop in the mornings. Poop looks normal after multiple droppings examinations. Dont understand!

He took some egg yolk and some water. Hopefully with some warmth and alone time he will come around… will keep everyone updated

My 22 week old rooster is acting funny. He has always kind of been kinda a slower stay to himself kind of guy since I got the breeding pair at about 12 weeks old. Recently he has been a little more lethargic and sleepy. Takes him a few tries to get on the roost which initially gave me concern. Today he was just laying around half asleep acting like maybe trying to empty his crop? (Opening his mouth and stretching his head forward) He has kinda been doing that a lot too. Today realized after some more examination he is either picking has feathers out or another chicken is. Haven’t really seen him get bullied but above his tail/ lower back is picked pretty good and a few tail feathers. Not picked raw just like feathers are gone in that spot. Checked him all over but didnt see mites or anything. Filled all waters with electrolytes so he was getting them at any station but looking for more direction or if anyone has an idea. Feels odd seeing him sleepy like all day and doing the opening mouth and stretching his head forward. Also has a slight tilt to his head but sometimes is up straight fine like normal. Any input is appreciated!!
I think he needs an antibiotic ASAP. I believe the neck stretching is difficulty breathing. I would bring him in the house and give him a broad spectrum abx. Do you have any?

Vet Rx is an old chicken product consisting of herbal oils—rosemary, oregano, balsam, and camphor. It is harmless, but may be like using Vicks. DE can irritate the respiratory system and eyes. It is hard to know what is going on with him, but I would keep giving him a whole cooked egg, and some watery chicken feed made mushy. There are some respiratory viruses that can cause gasping. Do you see any bubbles in his eyes or drainage from his nostrils?

I am so sorry that you lost him. If possible, keep his body cold, not frozen, and get him to the state poultry vet near Columbus today for a necropsy. That could answer why he died. The cost was $23 two years ago. Call them and tell them it is a backyard bird, which is less than a chicken from a commercial farm. They do like to send the necropsy results to your local vet. Here is a list of state vet labs with that information:
