Rooster just sitting still with eyes closed???

My Welsummer decided to get me this morning and I had to swing a plastic bowl at him to distract him. He jumped at the same time I swung and I hit him in the head. He didn't fall but it did knock him sideways. Now about 2 hours later he is just sitting with his eyes closed. I picked him up, after a small struggle, and he opens his eyes and walks around when I put him down. He walked over and got a drink of cool water but I don't know if he is OK. Any suggestions - please not to the freezer because he just thought I was after his girls.
