Rooster kept alone?

We just got six new chicks last week that were all marked as pullets. If any happen to be roosters, we plan to kill and eat them. I’m extremely attached to one of the chicks already, unfortunately I’m scared it might be a rooster. If it is a rooster, would I be able to keep it alone in another coop/property? Or would it be more cruel to keep it away from other chickens?

Last year I bought 4 girls and two turned out to be boys. They were together until the challenging started at about 4-5 months. I didn't want either to get hurt so I brought one inside.he has done fine inside by himself. He roosts on his branch every night. I plan on building a coop and he will have part of that and the run to himself eventually.

Why don't you want to keep him by the hens?
They are currently acrossed the road on my brothers property, since it’s more convenient. I tried asking “if it’s the only rooster could we just keep it with the hens?” but he just says roosters are aggressive and loud.

Not all cockerels will turn out to be aggressive so you could try to keep him with the hens. He might still turn out to be aggressive without them too. All roosters are loud, with or without hens. You will get used to the crowing quickly though... If your brother still does not want to try maybe you guys could try to rehome it. And who knows, maybe it won't even turn out to be a cockerel :idunno

I tried explaining this to my brother and he told me roosters are useless and only take up space in the coop. I’ve brought up the rooster twice and would rather not bring it up again, since I don’t want to annoy him. Also everyone around here either has a rooster or doesn’t want one, so he’ll end up on a plate regardless if I rehome him or not. I could take the rooster home but he would have to go in one of our cow pastures, since we have 3 dogs that would constantly stress him out. I could also try and find female hens for sale, but he’ll still be alone for a while.
