I had the same thing happen with my B.O. and her back was tore up real bad. Final solution was to get rid of him and nurse her back. I do have a question she seems to have stopped laying since his departure. Has anyone experenced this?
Mine are barely laying 1 egg a day, since the cold weather hit. I put a light in the coop, but it doesn't seem to have helped any. The chicken saddle was a pattern I found on this website that required no sewing. Since I was in a huge hurry trying to cook, wrap, work, etc. etc. getting ready to leave town for Christmas, I didn't have time to buy one. So I tried the no sew one I saw and made one out of an old knit shirt. I doubled the fabric and just cut 2 holes for her wings to go through and 1 hole for her tail. It has worked great! I tested the size/shape with just a regular old Tshirt then made the necessary adjustments for the actual one. I now have 2.
Do you need a tail hole or can you just end it before the tail?
Go-Go and my other girls are all named after characters from Quentin Tarantino movies. Go-Go and BeBe and Bill = Kill Bill, Arlene and Zoe = Deathproof, Alabama = True Romance.
I want to hatch some this year or get a couple more around the same age and they'll also get similar names
