Rooster lost his voice

My ameraucana rooster seems to have lost his voice today or is extremely hoarse. He crows all day everyday pretty loudly so when I could barely hear him this morning I knew something was off. It did get below freezing last night but he doesn’t act sick or anything only his voice is gone.

I sometimes hear some of mine try to crow with not much coming out.

I’ll be at work rest of the day but I refilled his water before I left so I’ll be able to tell tomarow. But he was breathing normal no wheezing or anything.

Sometimes a change in voice may be a symptom of the beginning of a respiratory infection or disease. If you see any sneeze or cough, watery or bubbly eye, or crackles when breathing, those would be other signs. But it could be due to the cold or humidity. Look for any mold or wet conditions, and make sure that he has good air circulation high up in the coop, but prevent direct drafts. Hopefully, he will get his usual voice back soon.
