Rooster not interested in hens?

This weekend I gave a few of my boys away, however I still kept one cockerel from this year's hatch (approx. 7+ months) as I've never seen him show any interest in mating the hens. He is huge, loves food, and likes cuddles. Is this normal? I have much younger cockerels that are already trying to mate the hens.

Is he a large breed? They mature later than average size breeds.

This surprises me! my roos are overly anxious to mate, but i agree with azygous, because my Cornish x never wanted to mate either.

I just got an 8 month old EE rooster. He is afraid of my hens, and they have been beating him up.

Not sure of breed, we mostly have BYM. His dad is the big EE rooster so you're probably right.

I have to take him off the roost every day so far. Since he is shy. He lets me take him off the roost and not all flappy. I pet him and he squats. I think I did see one hen's egg fertile...

But that was it.

He threw up today when I picked him up but I think he stuffs himself full of food everyday as this is the second time it happened. When we had crazy freezing temperatures he developed a huge poop/pee nugget on his vent that must have been hurting him. I gave him a bath and blow dry and was SO calm.
