Hi all,

Our normally vivacious crower, rocky(Plymouth barred rock) is now crowing silently. No change in activity, no change in diet, he’s still eating and drinking well, no injuries or swelling that we can tell. He’s about three years old, maybe. He is the only rooster we have, and we only have one hen as well. He’s making all the motions of crowing, just nothing’s coming out. He can still talk.

His preferred food is sifted dry whole corn. We’ve just switched him to sifted dry cracked corn. He also has access to.Kalmbach all poultry feed and mealy worm.

Any suggestions?

How old is he and do you have a video of this?

This has been going on for days and days and days. And he is not crowing at all. He is formerly a chronic Crower.
That is weird that he isn’t crowing at all. Chickens adjust their crops all the time, I’m sure he’s been doing it all along you just didn’t notice. I don’t think the crop adjusting had anything to do with the lack of crowing, but I agree that’s odd.

My roosters crow in succession. One starts then the next as so on. Could it be that another rooster that triggered his crowing is no longer around?
