my rooster is off balance to the point he will fall over and bump into stuff, he leans forward with his tail high when he sits he lays sideways to i would upload videos but it won't let me any help is appreciated, already checked for mites and he's eating and drinking ok, his crop is always empty and must feeling though he is also very thin, he's lost a lot of weight recently he is 8 years old so he might just be getting to old but id like to have some input.

You can upload a video to YouTube with a link posted here. Sorry about your rooster, but he may be starting to fail as you say. That is pretty old for a rooster. My 8 year old just died this year after slowing way down. If he were younger his symptoms might fit a chicken showing signs of Mareks disease, but if you have not added any new birds to the flock recently, it probably isn’t that.

I would try to make sure that he can get enough to eat and drink, and if he cannot get up to the rosst any more, make him a little place on the floor to sleep in. My rooster started sleeping in a nest box made out of a recycling basket with bedding that was easy to get in and out of. You can try some vitamins and aspirin is good for pain and inflammation—81 mg orally twice a day or in his food or water.

You might try offering him some wet chicken feed, scrambled egg, canned tuna or salmon, and canned cat food. One of those might appeal to him and help get some food into his crop. Pictures are always welcome.

i have and to update the situation he is now doing much better walking normally and eating only thing he can't seem to do yet is get on my highest roost yet or crow, his crow just sounds really quiet but its getting louder he actually had lice so i gave him medicine and vitamins and now he's on the right track thanks for your help and sorry for the late update my other rooster is now a free range bird with several other hens

Make sure that the coop has very good ventilation, and prevent wet moldy conditions and soiled bedding which can lead to aspergillosis, a fungal disease that can affect the breathing and other organs. Some roosters may have weak crows and other respiratory problems from mold.

So glad to hear that he is walking and doing better. Thank you for the update.

last update but he's gained almost all his lost weight back now, still doesn't crow but gets around just fine hopefully he will be alright for another year or two, he is the most behaved rooster I've ever had, lol
