Rooster only mates 4 of my 14 hens?

I expect a bit spotty fertility with that ratio but of all the girls he will only mate the four oldest. Half are laying, the other half will soon be and most are squatting. He's a healthy robust Easter Egger, about 6 1/2 mos old. What gives? The four he's mating are the last four I'd even consider hatching eggs from.

Give him time. The older ones are just easier for him to mate, as the younger ones start laying they will be more receptive. I have 6 pullets and one cockerel, 2 of them are not laying yet and are not receptive to him. The other 4 are, when he does his dance squat for him.

Maybe my hens are feminists. LOL None of mine really squat for him he jumps them when he sees them stuffing their faces with food. If I could have more than one, I'd get an older roo to whip everyone in shape!
