Rooster or hen? And breed?

Sorry for your loss! One thing I have learned since owning chickens is they can bring such joy and sadness to your life.

If you post some pictures of your coop and run, the great people here on BYC , can give you some suggestions on how to improve your security. Using 1/2" hardware cloth is my #1 suggestion. My chickens just survived 3 attacks(in one day) on them because of the hardware cloth.
The bobcat could not get to them!!!!

Man that is a really hard thing to go through. I am sorry you lost Skye.

If it means anything I also have one named Skye. A little Iowa Blue hen, shy and reserved but a favorite of mine.

Again I am sorry for your loss.

I agree with posting pics of your set up as many people here are very nice and helpful with security suggestions so you will not have to go through this again.

Thank you everyone. It was a hard loss but I believe Skye is in a better place now. Perhaps his/her memory can live on through your Skye. :)

As soon as I find my camera and have the time I'll get pictures of the setup. I'm sure it's not perfect, it's a homemade run made of bamboo poles and chicken wire. I know it's got gaps /somewhere/ because one of my bantam hens always escapes it but I can't find the gaps myself.
