HI folks, can you help me determine the sex of these chickens. They came from some fertile pink and light green eggs I bought from a neighbour and are a bit of a mix of breeds. Mums could have been an ameraucana, butter cup, wynadotte or a barred rock.

Rooster Dad was a not pure buff orpington.

Chicken 1, this one I'm presuming is a boy, he has spurs ...

How old are they? Right now, without knowing their age, #4 looks like the only cockerel to me -- though we can't see the head of #1. The others look like pullets.

#4 is a cockerel and the others look like pullets to me.
ETA* - Hens will also have that little spur bump, some when they get older will actually grow spurs. So dont let that bump fool you.

sorry, forgot to say, they were born 21st June so are nearly 7 weeks old. what makes you think number 4 is a roo?
number 1 has very big spurs which you cant see in pic. Do only boys have pronounced spurs?

thanks for your help

I'm going to agree that only #4 looks like a cockerel since we can't see the comb on #1. It's the color of the comb that gives it away. A pullet that age won't have any pink or red in her comb and won't until ready to lay.
