Rooster or Hen?

That's why I'm confused. Their the only 2 Cochins we have, so I don't have any others to compare them with.

Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

I've raised a lot of birds... and those my dear are cockerels. BOTH of them. :(

I didn't watch that video, but IMO it will be irrelevant at this point. NONE of my birds have rooster feathering to discern them at 9 weeks old. I currently have a black Cochin pullet slightly older than that and her waddles are MAYBE half that size. Plus the females will start to get a little pink by this age bit NOT red like yours. :old

No confusion on my part as to the gender of your boys. You gotta decide what you will do... keep a rooster flock or start over.

Best wishes! :fl

This was our first time getting any straight runs. We've lived in town up to this point and always ordered pullets. It's been a learning experience. Lol.

I know! The hatcheries say that there is a 50/50 chance of getting boy or girl, but in my expierence, it is more like 85/50! The 85 being boys!

Yes, I seem to excel at hatching boys and get about 80/20 boys to girls! However, of all the pullets I have bought I do find the hatchery 10% error rate on sexing to be about right.
