rooster pecked hen

i have a rooster who pecked my hen yesterday over her eye and made it bleed some.

I separated the hen and am thinking of just getting rid of the rooster-I only have 2 chickens...advice?

Only if the behaviour is continuous. I think your rooster may need more than one hen...

In the long run a 1/1 ratio will probably not work. As the rooster matures and becomes more sexually active he will be too rough on the hen. You might be better off rehoming him and getting another hen- understanding that the two hens will squabble initially.

thanks sour that is what I am probably going to do-had to re introduce a new hen before but it never got bloody

may wait till spring for a new hen tho - dont think there are all that many around right now...
