Rooster Pecking at Air?

Hey maybe trying to eat flies and miskitoes. How often does he do it? My chickens do that some times. I don't think its anything you should be to worried about. : )

I watched one of my hens pecking at dust motes rising in a shaft of sunlight. No doubt your rooster thought he saw something worth pecking at.

I just saw my one rooster pecking at air when he's in his cage and lights are off ..when I turn on lights he's not doing that I'm very confused what it could be
He eat and drink fine no weight loss I deworm them in March
It's been so hot here ..I'm doing vitamins

He's likely seeing dust motes floating in the air, high-lighted by the angle of the light beam. Some chickens notice these dust particles in the air more than others, and the behavior does make it appear they are demented. :gig

But what other things related with this behavior ?

Just the dust motes floating in the air. The light has to be very low, almost horizontal to the chicken for the dust motes to be visible to them. Out of 22 chickens, I only have one hen that does it.

I will leave it up to you to figure out whether it means the chicken is very smart or very stupid.

Totally agreed my rooster does in dim light last night he's doing ND then he fall asleep I'm still searching if it's a cause of Disease or injury but teetee act sweet and good didn't Showing sign. Of trauma or injury maybe it just due to dim light
