Long story short, my rooster is petrified of my Barred Rocks. He is a Red Star, just 20 weeks... He has 10 younger ladies his age that he adores lol, but every time a BR even gets close, he gets all stupid and acts like they are going to kill him.... Lol theyre squatting for him, but he runs away! Ive caught him with the others, and even helping himself to a guinea hen lol....

The BR hens did pick on him while hecwas growing up, but i didnt think it would cause PTSD lol, is he going t grow out if this? I really wanted to breed them for more layers; not doing such a great job so far ;)

At five months of age he probably will outgrow his fear of the barred rocks.

He was scared of any hen over half the size of him

Kind of funny how that works. I've had many roosters that were the same way. This morning when I was feeding the birds I watched one of my roosters bullying the older hens. The funny part is the rooster is a serama who stands less than 6 inches at the top of his head and weighs only 7.5 ounces. One of the hens has already learned to hold her head up so the rooster can't reach to peck her. For a little guy he is quite good at bluffing the other, bigger roosters.

Lol I sure hope so; its kinda sad watching him run scared and the hens look puzzled as to what his problem is ha-ha... I do have 2 banty Cochin roos, and the BRs don't put up with gruff from them, either... Those 2 guys pick on everybody, mean little guys (going in the stew pot really soon) but never mess with the BRs.. I thought maybe it's the breed, all the other hens and pullets like him...

I had a goose grab and tussle one of the BRs as a chick; she in turn, pecked a duckling, who is also still scared of the BRs, and then the BRs have my new roo all sketchy... They're nice to ME but that's IT. Figured maybe the BRs are the ones with the issue, not the rooster! They're head peckers ha-ha :D

The little serama rooster is now 7 inches tall; time flies.
