Hi there,

my bantam Phoenix rooster seems to be plucking feathers out in the vent area. I also noticed blood as well. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

The other chickens are most likely doing it to him so separate him for his own protection. The reason the hens may be pecking at his vent is because chickens peck at scabs and injury’s, which is why you need to seperate him. Take photos (as they are always helpful) and check for mites. That’s all the advice I have at the moment. I won’t be able to help you much past this point as I am unavailable for a while, but someone else can help ASAP :)

I don’t think it’s the hens doing it. I haven’t see them do it and they all get along quite well. I don’t see any small bugs on him. Will mites be visible? Maybe I’ll treat for that to be safe.
