I culled my first cockerel, now what?

Not a bad idea!
I'm very 'free form' with my chickens, lol.

And no I haven't eaten the meat yet. I cut into it right and the joint between the breast and leg and it was a bit undercooked, but nearly there.

The breast meat tastes awesome! The legs are a bit chewy and didn't soak up much flavor from the vegetables. Next time I'll definitely inject the legs with broth or something to get more flavor in them and make them a bit juicier.
Remember that buttermilk marinade. Yogurt also works.

Hopefully it be awhile before I have to cull another male, but since I'm a hatching addict it's definitely something I'll have to get comfortable with. I rehome the ones I can, but there are always a few stragglers that start to cause trouble.

Taz stuck around much longer than he should have because my favorite pullet, Sweety, loved him.

I had a situation like that once. Wesley and Buttercup. ...

When Sweety started raising a clutch of chicks Taz went from a minor occasional nuisance to an unmanageable menace overnight. He didn't want me anywhere near the chicks even though Sweety didn't mind. Once he drew blood that was that, he was done.
