Does heat/humidity affect how many eggs turn out to be roosters? I ask because so far ive hatched 30 chicks and only 5 have been roosters. Im using the nurture right 360 and maintaining humidity levels has not been easy, especially during the first two weeks, so I was thinking maybe that has something to do with it. Otherwise ive just been awfully lucky.

Thats lucky!

nope, luck of the draw. however, the hens decide the sex of the chicks, you could have hens that leans towards having female chicks
Really? Interesting. Maybe me keeping a bachelor flock locked up near them tricks them into leaning towards females?

No, I mean when I say ' the hen decides', I should say 'the hens genetics decide'
Ah. Even better I really didnt want a reason to keep those roosters around. I was keeping them to rotate breeding stock but theyve gotten so nasty that I went out and bought a bigger freezer just for them.
