I have a young three month old rooster who has been actively trying to mate with some of our older hens. At first he was really clumbsy and it didn't look like he was getting anywhere, but now he looks like he knows what he's doing and might be succeeding in his matings. But like I said he's only three months old and he hasn't even crowed yet. So my question is: is he old enough to be fertilizing eggs or is he still too young and (for a lack of a better phrase) "shooting blanks"?
