Some try to crow as early as 2 weeks, but most will start between 3-5 months of age, with a few staying silent longer. All roosters are different. Some crow non-stop, others occasionally.
Thanks! A 2 week old crowing sounds adorable.
My rooster crowed at 5 months and it sounds like they're was being strangled, but it ends up turning into a beautiful crow.
It just depends on the rooster how often he crows. My rooster "BigDeal" crows all day.
Honestly? If the hens like that rooster and he is gorgeous, why keep the others. Especially if they are beating up on the good roo.My Polish rooster is crowing at 10 weeks and the other two (Welsummer, Partridge) are not... He has (had) a crown of lovely head plumage and is very healthy, but every time our "Poli" crows the other two roosters attack him and pull out his head feathers... Wish I had a hat for him because he looks terrible now. The other roosters actually draw blood!! I try to keep the area on his head clean but he is taking a lot of heat. All three roos are 10 weeks old but most of the 25 hens seem to love Poli best! He is gentle and very protective and he responds well to both my hubby and me and even the grandkids! I am new to the Polish breed and roosters in general! Any suggestions?
I have thought about separating them as well but the Welsummer and Patridge Rock are my hubby's! He ordered them with the 25 hens. Poli was an exotic mystery gift from the hatchery! He is lovely! He is jet black with the black and white head plumage! The other two will become multi-colored but boy are they aggressive, and one has already gone at my daughter!Honestly? If the hens like that rooster and he is gorgeous, why keep the others. Especially if they are beating up on the good roo.
