Today, I got my first egg since I moved my hen to the farm to be with my rooster. It looks as if he got into the nest and squashed it. I don't think he ate any of it, but if he did will he keep on doing it? Any ideas or solutions on how to stop him would be helpful!
Thanks,
Jared

Did you catch him on the nest actually squashing the egg and eating it?

It could have been hen or rooster. If my hens break an egg they will promptly eat the contents, but usually all birds try to avoid the eggs.

If the rooster was new to the coop there may have been more movement around the pen and this caused the breakage. My chickens never miss an opportunity to eat the contents of a broken egg, but don't deliberately peck them open to eat the contents.

I assumed he squashed the egg, because she has never broken an egg before, and since I have them together, he is always in her nest.

if no one ate it, it was probably accidental. it's when they eat one that you can't train them to stop doing it.
