Rooster started humping my TV remote.😱

I'm sorry I didn't see your post last night. Thank you. I don't think I am getting all of my notifications.
I have had to take a pragmatic approach to having animals. I'm a softy on the inside and have been heartbroken before with the loss of pets, that's why I don't have any now. Although I truly care about my birds I go into it knowing that all of them will be gone one day, one way or another. My birds are a source of enjoyment, watching their silly antics, but they are also a source of eggs and meat. It is the cycle of life and although I don't enjoy doing it at all and it's emotionally difficult for me, I do my own butchering. While they are here I speak sweetly to them, protect them, and take good care of them.

I'm very attached to my birds. I would have to agree though with most people though I would have to re-home a bird if it had unwanted behavior.
I don't consider it unwanted behavior, is more like natural behavior. But there's no hen in sight so he is exploring with whatever he has available. No fault of his own. This is why as a loving rooster mama, I have decided to think of his needs, not mines. And today he will be going to his new home. 😭 😭 😭

I had to get rid of one of those "free exotics" that McMurray sends. He was a Lakenvelder and was a very nice bird. My excess roosters go into the freezer once they've matured. That is their purpose for me, that's why I get them, and I had "taken care of" all the birds I got for meat. "White Bird", as we called him was not a meat bird so he remained. When cold weather rolled in and the birds were spending more time in the coup he started getting picked on. The morning I found him bloodied I knew he had to be protected somehow. It just so happened that my aunt was looking for a rooster for her 3 hens, so he got a new home with her and he lived happily ever after...There are birds for food, for eggs, and some just for pleasure. I don't pass judgement one way or the other on what people do with their birds as long as they are well taken care of until the day they go, however that may be...

It's gonna be okay, everything is gonna be okay. :hugs

I would like to say
Thank you :hugs

To all of the members of BackYard Chicken
that took the time to read my thread.
Thank you also to all of you that read it but chose not to comment,
your thoughts were enough.

I really appreciated all of your input and insights in this situation.
No matter what side you were on, you both helped me see
trough different eyes and experiences.
Thank you for your stories, your photos, your ideas, your suggestions, all the love,
your jokes, your researching, your poem, your likes, your laughs, your tears, your time, etc.

This was a very tough decision that I had to make
and it is with a broken heart that I tell you this.

But I have decided to take Hei Hei to live with his parents. This will be the best thing for him and I will miss him greatly. He is very smart and he will learn and adapt to his new normal rooster life. I have faith that he will. He will have access to what a normal rooster needs and wants and he will be safe. And as for a non-normal rooster, he will still see his mommy every chance I get. I will make sure he never forgets me, because as long as I live, I will never forget him. He is the most awesomeness rooster you could ever ask for. We had only four months together, but we did so much in those months, that it felt like years. I will start introducing him to his new flock little by little starting tomorrow.

Again, thank you so much.
