We have 10 older hens over a year old and then 30 pullets about 3-4 months olds. A leghorn rooster just crowed for the first time this morning does that mean that he has started to breed then hens or not. We have a hen that has been broody and sitting on nothing for the past 3 months and I wouldn’t mind if she hatch a few chicks do I have to wait to leave eggs under her still he is older or is do doing it now

Not necessarily, might be soon tho.
It can take a good while before an older hen will allow and young cockerel to mate.
Check yolks to see if they look fertile.

That's too long for a bird to set, she can lose condition and become unhealthy.
Best to break her broodiness for now.

I have lock her is a dog cage for a week trying to break her 3 times now when I let her out she goes right back to it

Does the cage have airflow under it or is it sitting on the ground?
It has airflow up off the group and the nest she sits on I took all the straw out and it is a milk crate so airflow then. I wish I could break her since she hasn’t been laying eggs
