Rooster stomping at me

i/ve noticed a lot of times people try to make PETS out of their roosters. sometimes that can work but it seems the majority of times it doesn/t. he is the top knocker in the chicken coop and if you LET him he/ll rule you too! i don/t try to be buddy buddy with my roosters. i/ll snatch one up every now and then to show them who/s boss but for the most part i leave them alone and they do the same. i/ve only had 1 rooster that jumped me and he didn/t last long either. yes, they/re the best lookin birds in the flock but they/re still a male and you can/t love the dominance out of him. he/ll either see you as his hen or a threat but rarely a friend. i would much rather him see me as somebody who can whoop his hindend.

great post! I have the same issues with my two "accidental" Roo's - they were supposed to lay eggs when ordered, but unfortunately unless the hatchery knows something I don't we got the 2% chance of Roosters - x's 2! argh!!!

Snowflake totally bullies Creampuff (maybe it's the names? But they once were hens before they crowed! LOL!!) They often fight over mating etc. I have to get rid of one. Just found a taker today.

Snowflake is staying, but gets an attitude adjustment from me! I carry him and love all over him, makes him so mad! He also will try to get at me if he see's me carrying a hen. He flogged my husband the other day when he thought my husband hurt a hen - when it was actually another hen.. both at my husbands feet fighting over treats. Yep... he's a turd.

However, he gladly fought a pitbull that the neighbor lets out to run free, and the funny thing, the pitbull goes WAY around the yard now. He's a protector, so he gets to be a turd I guess!!
