Rooster struggling to walk

Pretty boy! I'm glad he hasn't gotten worse. Has he gotten any better at all? Are interested in trying a chicken sling to help him stay upright or is he doing OK with that? Is there a blue tinge to his comb at all? The latest photo does not appear so, but the earlier photos looked like that might be a possibility.

Hi, he seems to be sitting up right and shuffling around the cage okay but still can’t walk. He is defiantly sitting up better on his own and shuffling around which he was not doing in the beginning. But not the most improvement still eating, drinking and pooping normal. Might try a sling. There isn’t any blue tinge that I have noticed. He does have a few little sores healing from a spat he had with another rooster a few weeks back.

Any suggestion on how to make a sling for a rooster? I have only ever made one for a baby chick

Thanks!

You can google images of "chicken sling" to pull up loads of ideas.
I do like the ones that are made from a tub. This one just has what looks like a large t-shirt pulled/secured over a tub. Your boy is going to be heavier than a hen, so you may need to use a stiffer fabric. I would also try cutting a hole for poop to fall through, that may he will hopefully stay cleaner.

Yes! You can clip fabric onto a bin or laundry basket. You need to cut holes for his legs and make sure his vent has a hole under it, too, or make sure his vent is over In a pinch, I think you could stretch an old tee-shirt around a box and use that for the fabric.

Update!

He does seem to be getting better. Slowly staring to walk. Still having some balancing issues! He is even starting to crow again.

But today I did notice that the tips of his comb at starting to turn a bluish purple colour. The weather isn’t cold at the moment. I’m not sure what it could be.

Any thoughts?

Glad to hear he is improving.
