Rooster tail is down

My rooster has survived a terrible time( details are under Moonwalker as my reply)
How long will it take for him to get his tail back up and what does it mean? H is eating now but still seems unsteady and won't really walk. its been a week Thanks Jamie Lynn

You got me, but I'll bump this so it gets seen by people who might know. Are you giving him any electrolytes? Or vitamins. He might need a boost.

That usually means they are hurting or just not feeling well.
I did not see the other post you are taking about. But you should at least consider puting some Vitimen & Electrolites in his water for a helpful boost.
It wouldn't hurt to put a teaspoon of sugar in the water as well.

I read the post where you described your rooster's ordeal. Do you have a way of posting a picture of his turned-in leg? Has it always been that way, or did it happen right before he fell into the pond?
If his leg was twisted as a chick, it could be perosis--caused by a nutritional deficiency of choline (a B vitamin) which is necessary to form cartilage.

I agree with the others, try giving him some vitamins, something like Rooster Booster. I personally use Avia Charge 2000 (from McMurray Hatchery) Some people have used children's Polyvisol, but I don't know the dosage. And yes, a droopy tail means your rooster isn't feeling well.

Well today I put my rooster back in the barn,away from the other roosters. His tail is still down,drinking honey water and carn nibblets. I am going to go to the feed store and get the suggested products.
I'm actually not too sure if his leg was turned in before.I'm sorry to say I did'nt notice.
The poor little guy with his tail down, I sure hope he starts to feel better.I am going to find homes for the other two big roosters so he won't get beaten up and so he can get his girlfriends back. Will a hen pick on a weak rooster? Will my small roosters( buff B's and blue W's pick on a large rooster?

Jamie Lyn- first welcome and second dlhunicorn is very knowledgable and someone we listen to here on the forum. Check your rooster and answer her question.

Third- You need to keep him in hospital-that means on his own. The others will peck at a sick chicken and even kill him.

Not much more I can add. I hope this bump will help get you answers. And like I said answer dlhunicorn's question.

As you spend time on the forum, you will find who you need to listen to first and foremost. dlhunicorn is one of those. Listen to her first above most others.

Sometimes you'll get more advice and end up doing too much and stressing out your bird if you do what everybody says. I always suggest electrolytes and vitamins, but only as a way to keep them strong to either get over something on their own, or until somebody like dlhunicorn comes on to tell you what to really do.

You've basically recieved the same advice, but for the most part that will only strengthen him for whatever is going on. Now you need to focus on what the problem is.

Good morning
I'm going to bring the rooster into the back room again he is not improving. He stopped drinking his water too. I didn't know that even the hens would pick on him,so will take care of that
dlhunicorn I have a menonite neighbour coming over later to check the abdomine as I am not sure what to look for to see if it is full. Thanks for the advice and I will respect and learn from the info that I receive. I love to learn and this looks like a friendly teaching group. I'll get back as soon as I hear about abdomine.
