Rooster treading hen bare

I have not had a problem with the fleece getting too hot, it gets up to 100* F here with high humidity during the summer.

The tail loop is because the fleece is stretchy and the hen can twist it off if it isn't looped around the tail.

Thank you. I'll give it a try. It gets about as hot here but little humidity. I keep telling the hens that sun bathing without their feathers is bad for their skin. I just looked at the pictures you have posted. You have beautiful chickens

Thanks for the compliments on my birds, that is ALL of them. It took me 2 years to get decent shots of each one but it was a fun project.

Now if I can figure out how to add captions...

I was going to guess NHR, but since you have one, you'd probably know what they look like

Too light for a RIR, too dark for a BO.

Could it be a Comet or a Production Red?

i have a red hen just like yours, with the same few black feathers in the tail. I'm not sure what she is either. Could the be the second generation of sexlinked chicks?

I was trying to figure out which holes were the "wind" holes.... lol. duh.

Glad you bumped this up, gonna try it tomorrow. No sewing! Hope I can get it to fit well and be comfortable. I am not much of a seamstress and havent used a sewing machine since highschool, but I wouldnt mind hand stitching a couple if I had to.

I have been keeping my hens apart from the roos for a bit, like a adjoining run, or put the hens in the tractor, but I let the roo watch over his girls. So far everyone is pretty happy about it. As close as they are to their flock mates, it seems only right to keep them "together" but not together. lol.

also, do the saddles change the roos behavior at all? do they hang onto the neck more or become awkward at mating?

I bought my saddles from BYC member lesliet in FL, I bought 6 saddles for my three hens.

My pullets wear them 24/7 and I change them out once a month with a clean one, then Little Ricky can do his thing and no one gets hurt
