Rooster trouble

My rooster doesn’t go in the coop at night. He gets picked on by someone and while they get along in the yard stuff goes down in the coop. Now I’m not worried about him at night when it comes to predators but I do worry about him come the winter. Would it be a good idea to bring him in at night? He won’t have free range of the house but I figure it might be a good idea to crate him in the house at night when it’s too cold for him to be sitting outside on top of the metal-roofed coop in 30F degree weather...some of our nights last winter reached -22F!

I would definitely not leave him sleeping on the roof, especially not during the winter. Bringing him in the house is better than doing nothing, but ideally it would be best to figure out who/what is causing him to not want to go into the coop, and remedying it.
How many chickens do you have, how many roosters, and how big is the coop? If you could get pictures of your setup it might help. :)

No.

Ditto Dat!!

I don't think you'd be doing your rooster a favor bringing him into the warm house and then outside during winter. The temperature difference would be too much and he would get sick. I would rather find out what and where the issue is and fix it.
Ya that was my concern too...the thing is I’m not sure who’s actually bullying him. I thought it was the guineas but on the nights I’d put him in the coop while the guineas weren’t in there by the AM he’d be squawking up a storm before I could even get out there it’s be over.

It’s a 6’x8’ coop, custom build, with a run to match. As far as I know I have 5 hens, 1 rooster, and 3 guineas. He’s afraid of most of the hens and all 3 guineas if they are in the mood chase him around the yard (they free range during the day) but the other birds leave him be as far as I can tell.

I have a young rooster who was hatched in the spring. While he is an accepted part of the flock, some of the hens do not like him. He spends the majority of his time in the coop, on a roost and sleeps on a nest box at night. It’s all about age and pecking order.
you may just have to put him up at night in the coop until it passes
