Rooster type

Does it matter what type rooster I use to fertilize my eggs? This is very new to me. I want to have more layers and want to hatch them myself. Wasn't sure how important breed is. Thanks.

You can use any breed you want to

although if your wanting to hatch chicks to lay when older i suggest getting a breed of rooster that has good laying abilities

Any rooster will fertilize your hens eggs. If you want pure breeds you need the same rooster breed as your hens.
And you dont need a rooster for your hens to lay eggs. They will lay without a rooster.
