Chirping
Our rooster was injured by a dog yesterday. I brought him inside to clean him up and assess injury. He lost a few feathers but otherwise seems okay. I was concerned about internal damage but he’s up this morning eating, drinking and sort of crowing.
Because I give the roosters a wide berth I’m never very close to them.
As I was nursing this guy I was able to see that his comb is turning black!
Our other rooster’s comb looks fine (as close as I can tell) and no hens have black on their combs or waddles.
I read this could be liver, but if that’s the case is there anything to be done?
No chance of frostbite or cold as we’re in Florida and it’s been in the 80s.
Unfortunately we lost our vet who saw chickens and there’s no replacement yet.
I’ve attached some pics and any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
He’s a really good boy and we’d hate to loose him!
