Rooster Wanted for breeding project

Quote:
Sorry I just meant that he is lovely. I am still trying to talk my husband in to coming to get one. I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I just don't want to jump to any conclusions if I am to drive that far. What breeds of hens do they breed to?

We did a meat cross this spring with Buff Orpingtons. All chicks were dark buff with black tails. The Chicken color calculator at http://kippenjungle.nl/Overzicht.htm will help you see what you will get. The Buckeye is considered a black tail red, though it is a dark brown/red. You can play around with the calculator to see what you will get. The Buckeye also carries a somewhat hidden colombian pattern.

JimsFarmStand Thanks for the information. I have found a young Wyandotte roo in my immediate area. I still would love to have one of those Buckeye offspring, but I don't think I will be making such a huge trip right now. I would like to contact you later if I am positive to come get one. JimsFarmStand and dadof4 Thank you both for the offer.

If you're interested, I have some extra Partridge Chantecler roos available, and I'll give them over for the cost of shipping. They have almost NO comb, and I'm happy if I can find them a home. They are only 6-7 weeks old, so shipping is quite minimal still.

Well, even with one lone little guy, it looks to be about $25. It wouldn't cost but $3 to send all 6 of them!

They're stunning birds, if you want any. Here are some pics of some.
