I have a three-year-old Mille Fleure D’uccle rooster that four days ago I noticed was just staying in a nesting box. On the second day he was in there again I lifted him up and put him down and he had some balance issues but was walking around. I brought him in and as the day went on did eat A bit on his own and drink water. As the evening went on he grew increasingly more weak to the point where he couldn’t lift his head and wouldn’t eat or drink. When I would lift him up he would basically just be limp. I didn’t think he’d make it through the night but he did so I took him to the vet the next morning. The vet thought it might be a gastrointestinal issue. His heartbeat was extremely slow and weak and we figured he would not make it through the day. But the vet gave me some Tylan and wanted me to treat the whole flock as a precaution. I did not do that because I don’t want to give my chickens unnecessary antibiotics and not any other chickens were showing any signs of sickness. So I treated the Roo to the antibiotic and gave him more vitamins and electrolytes. Pretty sure he wasn’t going to make it through the night. Well today he is alert and eating and drinking on his own however he cannot really stand up or balance himself. I also had given him some Corid The second day figuring it couldn’t hurt. I have not given him any more Corid but maybe I should? Any clues as to what might be going on with him? I’m hoping it’s not something neurological seems how he can’t stand or walk. Hoping it’s just him being weak and needs to get strength back.
