Thank you so much for the replies. I put an "X" on it tonight with duct tape. I'm hoping that it helps him. He should be ok free ranging because his brother, a rooster just like him, is there and they are fenced on 2 and a half acres. Of course, there is no accounting for hawks.

Thank you, roxy. He is a Golden Laced Cochin and so very sweet and kind. He did not like the duct tape for sure, but was a sweetheart while we tried to hold him on his side and put it on (not all that easy in practice). He seems to have ok balance with it on, but will watch as he comes out tomorrow morning.

I sure appreciate all the help. I am thinking to leave it on for a few weeks unless someone tells me differently.

I think you're doing the right thing, taping up a healthy wing is not going to hurt.
