Rooster with a comb problem?

I have a chick that has no comb but a dark red spot with tiny bumps and some flaking skin but it's not bleeding. The chick is about 2 1/2 weeks old he hasn't been pecked on as far as I can tell. Could it be mites? What is it?? And what should I do???
I may post a pic soon but don't count on it the camera is terrible.

hard to say with out a pic. maybe put some bacitracin on it. probably did get pecked or is just in that akward growing stage. flaky skin can happen as they loose their fluff and grow in feathers. maybe a bit of bagbalm on it?
