Rooster with bad foot injury. Need help!

Thank you EyeHeart! This was definitely a learning experience. I just feel awful for my boy. I just couldnt watch him suffer any longer. I am going to call me vet in the morning to see if I should be worried about my horse. I have a older mini (26) that has the run of the farm and he decided he was going to clean the Roos face for him. Now I am scared to death that at his age that he will get sick! I dont think I could handle that. I was debating weither or not to start him on and antibiotic to be on the safe side. Just a bit overwhelmed right now.

I don't think there'd be any harm in giving your pony some antibiotics; he likely sensed that your roo was on his last legs. I find horses are very sensitive to death and sickness and always try to boost the morale of the ill animal. But asking your vet would definitely be best so you don't dose him needlessly, which could breed resistance, which isn't good. By catching it this early, you should prevent the infection from ever starting.
