Chirping
I came outside to check on my chickens this morning and collect eggs but halfway through I notice one of my roosters’ face was covered in blood. He has been getting in fight more often recently, I know of 2 former fight in the past 2 weeks that have been nasty, but the injuries had been nothing terrible. I was more worried about the roo that was fighting with Omelette (the injured one), Tater-Tot (his dad). So I had been keeping an eye on them. They had rarely fought before and when they did there was almost never any injuries. So I had thought that they might have been trying to settle something in the pecking order and I had let them do their thing. But now Omelette and Tater-Tot had gotten in a really bad right sometime between last night and early this morning. Omelette’s comb is caked in blood and his eye is sealed shut. He is 1 and 1/2 year old, a Favorelles/Orphington Mix. He has very rarely had any problems in the past. I tried soaking the eye and a little of the comb in a Luke warm water/hydrogen peroxide to see if I could get him to open his eye, but no luck, his comb started to bleed a little though so I left that alone. His beak is also a little messed up from the fight. Here are some photos (kinda graphic)
