rooster with big crop and spitting up blood

Unfortunately i can not take him to a vet. Today is not looking promising for my big guy, i believe he’s on his way out so i’ll just try to make him as comfortable as possible.

I am so sorry to hear about your rooster.

Have you tried giving him olive oil followed by gentle massage to see if you can break the mass in his crop up? I had a hen with chronic crop problems due to Marek's. I did the olive oil/massage/stool softener regimen on her for over two years before I finally had to put her down but she was chronic with the problem before going acute and the olive oil/massage/stool softener worked more than once for her.

I'm sorry to hear he is still not doing well

Did you try any crop treatment?
If he is suffering, it's a kindness to put him out of his misery.

Not to sound uncaring, but if you do lose him, you may want refrigerate the body and send it for a necropsy to find the cause of his decline - you can find your state lab here http://www.metzerfarms.com/PoultryLabs.cfm
Alternatively, if you are up to it, perform your own informal investigation - looking at the crop, gizzard and internal organs to see if he ingested anything sharp. Or if you can figure out where the blood was coming from.

I tried the oil and crop massage a few times last night and his crop got a bit softer but he spit up more blood during the process.

I had a bird sent to my state lab earlier in the year for a different problem and it was insanely expensive. I will talk to my mom about taking a look at his crop once he’s passed, that’s not something I could do by myself.

Some states are very expensive so I do understand.

It can be hard to wrap your head around doing an exam after they die, but one you start, and determine you may learn something, it becomes a little easier. If she can do it, look in the crop and at the gizzard for sure.
