Yesterday I picked up my 6 month old rooster and his left leg was bright red, no bumps that I could tell and bottom of his foot looked normal. Doesn’t seem to have a cut or anything. His comb seems a little paler than normal. I checked for mites and lice and don’t seem to be present. Any ideas why his leg is so red?
I don’t want it to get worse!

It looks like the scales are missing.
Did he get his leg caught somewhere and rip them off?
I'd spray some Vetericyn or something similar on his leg and monitor him.
He may have but I’ll didnt see anything happen and I did spray it yesterday but he was a little cranky for me to spray him this am but I’ll keep on it! Thanks so much.

I think it looks like scaly leg mites, the red patches on his leg are where the scales have lifted up. I'd soak his legs with a warm soapy antibacterial water once or twice a week and keep him slathered down with some kind of oil afterwards to protect the leg while it heals.

I'm not sure the scales are even there. It looks to me like they're completely missing from those red spots. And the rest of the scales, above, to the side, and below, all look normal to me. I think it's a physical injury, where those scales got ripped off.

Check the other leg to see if there's red going down it. If it is, dont worry about it. It's completely normal this time of the year. Hormones flowing.
