You might want to read post 7 by SueT in the thread below for pictures of frostbitten wattle before and after:

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I think slightly smaller waddles on him wont hurt his placings (they were a little to large to begin with for SOP). So they will just be a little to small. But I think it will be fine! His other features are very good for SOP. Do you think he will heal by July? (that's when 4H fair is). I also think his case may be a little less severe than the pictures.

I found this on a BYC article. https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...to-know-about-injury-care-and-recovery.78168/

STAGES OF FROSTBITE
1st Degree: Irritates the skin surface and causes temporary pain and numbness.
2nd Degree: Involves all skin layers. In addition to pain and numbness, blisters filled with clear fluid may form on the skin, but underlying tissue is unaffected.
3rd Degree: Involves all layers of the skin and causes permanent tissue damage. Swelling and blood-filled blisters appear. Skin color turns white or yellowish before turning purplish-blue. Skin becomes waxy in appearance. Tissue damage is permanent.
4th Degree: Skin, tissues, muscles, bones, and tendons freeze. Damage is permanent. (3)

do you think its like 2.6 degree? its a little waxy and idk if it was yellow or white. its purplish red. i wouldn't say its more waxy than normal though. (as in the middle of 2 and 3)

Yes he will definitely be healed by then.

Hi! So my bantam Wyandotte rooster got frostbite over night from getting water on his waddles (he uses a 5 gallon heated water from tractor supply) then freezing. It’s pretty bad (I think… I’ve never had anyone get frostbite before). I think this because they are pretty puffed up. He doesn't mind me examining them, but I think they are a little uncomfortable. We put him and his 3 girls inside and sprayed some antiseptic stuff on his waddles.

*his comb is not frostbitten! It’s dried blood because he escaped his coop and went into my silkies coop. They got in a minor fight but he has no real injuries from that!*

*he is eating and drinking!*

*my coop is out of wind and he does not go outside when it’s cold because he is a show bird. I didn't want to get frostbite on him but I guess his waddles are just to big and fell in the water.*

I would like to know:

-when will his waddles be back to normal shape and size and color?
-how can we prevent this from happening in the future? (It’s 0-25 degrees here most of the time).
-how can I help his waddles get back to normal?
-how can I reduce the swelling?

I think the earlobe and bottom of his chin are larger because of the waddles. Am I correct?
