Rooster With Hurt Eye!

It has been about 24 hours since the fight and his eye is still closed.

Try opening it and flushing with saline, use the stuff for contacts.
Ask the vet for an opthalmic ointment first thing Monday, but flush with saline twice a day to stave off infection and to get some oxygen to his corneas.

Alright, and I assume if there is any damage to his eye there is nothing I can do unless it heals on it's own?

He opened his eye

I can't tell if he can see though.. I tried doing a reaction test, he didn't react to that eye, I am a bit concerned. But luckily he opened it! I will update tomorrow!

If he's blind in it, he's blind in it. I don't think its a biggie. As long as there's no infection just thank goodness they both survived.

His eye is closed again..

I kind of think he does have a blind eye now, but I am not sure. He is out of the crate walking around w/ his brother, while supervised. They seem to be getting along. I just don't want to put them in the same coop locked up together again. Thanks!

His eye was open earlier, but now it is closed again!

Gandhi has had his eye open the past few days, I think he can see alright! Thanks everyone for your help!

I thought he'd be ok. usually rooster fights don't do permanent damage unless they actually catch a spur in the eye.
