Hello there! I'm hoping someone can help.

My rooster was (I think) the victim of an owl attack and he had a torn and bleeding waddle. He seemed ok, but we isolated him when he wouldn't stop picking at himself and the other chickens started picking too. We put some ointment on it and the bleeding has stopped. But now, both waddles are black and crusty at the edges with some grayish ash-like looking stuff. He seems perfectly healthy -- eating, running, crowing, all the usual but I'm worried that something needs to be done. Any thoughts?
