Rooster with one hen

I got bantam chicks. They were supposed to be pullets, but ended up being straight run. I was told over in the gender forum that I have 2 Roos and one hen. Do you guys think this will turn out okay? I was thinking if necessary, I could purchase some standard size pullets and add them to the bantams (they're 6 weeks old), so that there would be more females than males. Any suggestions or thoughts?

Are they Old English Game Birds?? They kinda look like it but I'm just curious. I'd like to see the pics on the gender forum that you posted. I'll try to find that...lol.

I was told by someone that they are old English. We bought without the breed being specified. The picture above is the one I used on the gender forum. I can add one more

Ok, I searched out your other threads. I'm not totally sold that they are 2 roos with a pullet. IF they are Old English Game bantams, and to me they look like they do, the comb on a roo becomes very obvious. I have both Crele and Silver Duckwing colors and a completely barred male. The comb on a male will still stay pinkish even once it grows, but it grows big enough to be very obvious.

It would be easier to tell if you had side pictures of each chick, but by your pic I'd give it a bit more time. Also, if they do turn out to be OEGBs, if they're anything like mine, the roosters don't pester the females like the large fowl. My birds are just SO sweet and get along beautifully, males and females. I only keep them apart so I don't have brothers and sisters breeding. I'll try to find pics.

Sure, that sounds good!

I found a couple of pictures of my OEGBs. In the pic below, the chicks aren't as old as your chicks, and the male has a comb more prominent than the two females. His color also sets him apart with the lighter head and lack of eye liner. I don't see those differences in your chicks. These chicks were hatched on Jan 1 and are 15 days old in this pic.




Here are the same young birds on March 14th. The two females have almost no comb development while the male is sporting a decent comb.





Below is a full brother and sister to the above chicks. They were hatched last fall.



He didn't have a full comb in February, but does now. His sister is just getting her full comb now.


On the other side of my gray hen peeks the mother to all the above birds with her full comb. She'll be 2 this summer.




Below and final is a pic of my Crele OEGB chicks last summer. They would be a month old in this pic. The little roo on the far right has a nice size comb. A female is to his left. The last two of the four are roos. It took me forever to figure them out. Now that I've had a few it's much easier to pick out the sexes on my own chicks.




To me, all the chicks look the same in your photo. I'll watch for the pics you're going to post.

From the last 3 individual pics, I don't see any significant comb development. Unless one sprouts a comb all of a sudden, I'd guess you have 3 pullets.

The only thing I'd note is that #2 appears to have a lighter head/neck. I'd guess if you had any roosters...it would be that one.
Of course that's only based on my OEGB colors...I'm sure there are other colors I'm not familiar with.

I'd love to know what they turn out as, male or females...and how big they get.
I subscribed so I can keep track of this thread.

I really hope they turn out to be all pullets.

Their eggs are so tiny and cute!
