One of my older roosters has on the back and inside of both his legs (hock area, where feathers begins on up) red to raw looking skin and feathers have shed off. It is not getting better but looks worse. The bottom portion of his legs (scales) are normal. He walks fine and has no other symptoms of anything that I can tell. I'm not sure what to put on them. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply, I treated him with the bag balm and gave him a light dusting too. I will keep an eye on his progress. Hopefully this will do the trick.

Did you ever find out what was causing the redness on your rooster's hocks? My son's rooster is going through that same issue right now. We first noticed it when he started limping and became off balance. Within an hour he couldn't stand up and his toes were curled in. Marek's disease was the first thing that came to mind or B2 vitamin deficiency. We have been treating him with b complex and also Rooster booster B12 because it has vitamin k in it. He's had a small amount of nutra drench. His toes improved within a couple days and he gained his strength back within a week. It's taken about 2 weeks for him to be able to start walking again, but he does still tend to fall over but uses his wings to try to balance. We still have no clue why his hocks are beet red and raw looking and wondering if that could be part of his issue. Thanks for any info you can provide.
