rooster with sore foot

I have a young rooster that will not put his foot down. It looked like it had a split in it a couple of weeks ago so I put him safe in a kennel in the garage and cleaned it up a little. He seemed to be using it a little so he went out with the girls again. Today I say that he has stopped using that foot again. Any ideas?
