Hi all chicken lovers, does anyone know what might be ailing my 8 month old Orpington rooster. He is the biggest rooster about 6 kilos (14-15lbs). He is very gentle and sociable. In the last 2 weeks he has had spasms of the shakes- he trembles like a bad case of shivering. While having these fits he still walks, albeit hesitantly, and tends to his hens. Then he goes back to normal then has a fit again. He's had a few droppings stuck around his bottom for about 2 or 3 months due to pooing while hunching down ( I havent got a roost in his house). We cut those off the other day. Other than that he looks to be happy and getting on with his life. Could he have a neural problem or a heart issue? Id be pleased to hear if anyone else may have identified what this is.

Do you have a video of his actions?

Upload Video to YOUTUBE and provide a link or you can use the BYC Gallery. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/how-to-upload-videos-to-the-gallery.1631126/

Also photos of him and his legs may help.

Marek's disease comes to mind, but it could be something else neurological or nutrient related. Hard to know.

For such a large rooster, I'd give him 3/4 tablet human B-Complex once daily along with 400IU Vitamin E. Give him a little egg to help with the uptake of E.
