Rooster with vent prolapse

He is home . Groggy and droopy. He had a surgical procedure called a pursestring stitch. It will stay in until next Monday. He looks so pathetic. They gave me antibiotic(clavamox) tablets... I crushed one put it in water and syringed it into him. I'm terrified of aspirating him. They also gave me dewormer... a packet that he gets one tenth of per day for 10 day . Panacur. I'm still not too sure he will survive but he definitely has no more prolapse.

I hope he recovers quickly!

He had a small abscess on the prolapse, they scraped it clean and out him on antibiotics. Other than that no tissue removal. Here is a picture of his new vent lol.

That looks so much better! How is he feeling today?

He sleeps alot. But he eats really well, drinks well and did have a crowing session this morning.

I always breathe a sigh of relief when they crow.

I'm not sure how much outside time Sunny should have after surgery but I brought him out while I sat and watched today and he is like a new chicken.
So thankful to all of you for your compassion and advice! Here's hoping it all stays inside when the stitches come out on Monday!

Glad that he is looking so good. Most people are not able to have vet care, and glad that he seems to be recovering. He is handsome.
