I got a call from my sister who lives in town stating her neighbor had a rooster and a hen to give away. I went down to see what kind of chickens they were and it was a bantam rooster and hen. Well I brought them home and put them in my holding pen -which is next to my chicken coop-, so they could get use to my chickens. For the past three days the new rooster wont stop crowing, and then my original rooster crows back. It's driving my totally crazy!!! What can I do to stop this madness short of having this new rooster for dinner? Any thoughts or Ideas would be a blessing!

When my baby roo died I bought a new 1 year old rooster. He crowed NONSTOP for 2 or 3 days. I have neighbors that have roosters and when they crowed my roo crowed louder. I think your new roo is just trying to establish his new territory. He might stop soon. You do have other rooster though, he may be crowing against them.

I just have my 1 roo and he has calmed down his crowing. He did crow all day every 2 minutes. Now he just crows in the morning and at dusk and whenever someone is in the chicken yard with his soon-to-be girls (they're just 6 weeks old). He separated from them for now.

I hope he stops...for his sake. I'd hate for him to be banty soap.

Its a territory thing. He is shouting at your other ro0... IM gonna kick your butt and take your women.. The other one is hollering back Over my dead body these women are mine... And until they work out who gets what area they will holler and scream...
But dont dispair, it gets less noisy

I have around 50 or so roos.. give or take a few Mine arent all that loud... My neighbors down the road got a new roo.. Mine holler back occasionally but I think he is over whelmed whenmine al holler back.. He is young enough that he is intimidated by all mine...
