Rooster

You could hang up a red bulb light in their coop for them, that's what we do for our chicks if it gets too cold. Just make sure you hang it up very securely.

Yeah 6 weeks is definitely still too young to be that cold, especially if the little rooster is out there too, since roosters feather slower. They may do okay, I have never tried letting babies that young out because we have grumpy old hens so we usually have to wait until our babies our 12 weeks old before we put them out so they don't take a beating. By then they can handle the cold for sure. I usually leave them with a heat lamp till they are seven weeks old and then exchange it for a weaker bulbed one and use that mainly for nights till they are nine weeks old. You might want to get a light on those little babies if you can.

How's the integration going? I'm having a rough go this spring with integrating. It seems like all the older girls are out for the kill!

It isn't. Ugh! My hens are super mean! I decided to let them
All free range today and he is being left out! They won't let him
In the hen house or the run! They ignore him in the field tho! He seems to rather hang with my ducks!

About 4 months old.Be sure their able to see hin for the next 3 months. After this slowly put him in with them everyday.
They usually would rather a rooster "not" be there,(they hate the mating).

At 4 months he should be their size, but will not fight them (more then likely.)
But,it will not stop them from mounting, and chasing them.

Usually Roosters are the hardest to integrate. But I'm having trouble with just hens, the older hens are beastly! I hope the integration ends up going well for you. Just keep trying, they'll eventually allow him in whe n he's too big they have no choice.

I know how hard it is too.Escpecially when there is already a established one already performed dominatant. The hens juat dont wanna deal with anymore.

I just got a new rooster & put him on the roost with my 7 "roosterless" hens. Checked them in the morning, and they are taking turns pecking at him. He won't fight back, just cowering in any corner he can find, like a wimp! Is there any hope for this rooster to intermingle and do his roostering?
