sorry to hijack your post but I was wondering if you guys could tell me your thoughts on Vera, she's supposed to be a pullet I'm concerned that she might be a he tho.

How old is she/he? Is it just the comb that's concerning you or is it her behaviour?

We think they are about 8-10 weeks. I've been getting conflicting reports tho. A friend hatched them for us and assures us they are all female. I guess in the end only time will tell. They are all mixed breeds too so that doesn't help

I'm only concerned because she seems to be the only one developing wattles in the picture her comb looks darker than it is. In reality it's a light pink a touch darker than flesh colour.

I think it's a cockerel, then.

I wouldn't worry just yet. Girls combs can start reddening up at 10-12 weeks. Roosters tend to have very red combs and well grown wattles at that age. Just keep an eye out for any developing 'male' feathers - long and curvy tail feathers, or long, thin, pointed feathers at the base of the tail.

I love Vera's colour/pattern. Very pretty.

A profile pic would help, but I'm thinking cockerel. The bird in front with the head down also looks male, again a better pic would confirm.
