Rooster

How new are these hens? How long have they been in the flock? If only just introduced, the rooster likely believes them to be intruders so he's trying to chase them off.

More time may be necessary to acquaint the flock with the newcomers before you allow them to mingle.

I got these about 2 months ago. Keep them in anbopen area so other chickens could set them. My rooster would run up and try to peck them through the fence. He still runs them off from food. I have to stand guard until they are through eating. Thanks

This is pretty standard behavior - the rooster sees the new birds as invaders and a thread to his resources and potential threat to his possession of the hens. How many feed stations do you currently have out? How many birds total are you working with in the newly combined flock? Are you integrating in an enclosed space (if so, what dimensions for both the coop and the run) or an open area?

I have three feeding stations. Charlie is always running them off of any feeder. The other hens have no problem with the new hens, just that dang roo

Some roosters are very attached to their hens and don't like new arrivals. I would suggest separating the rooster for a couple of weeks if possible, And let the hens settle in. Hopefully when you add the rooster back to the flock he will no longer see the new hens as being different. If he continues to be a jerk even after being separate for a while, then I would consider putting him in the pot. Hope this helps.
